The CCSS are very clear about how there is no curriculum that goes with them.
And recently there have been a number of articles and blog posts about how many of the standard text books don't actually meet the standards.
In speech therapy and special education we're very used to a lack of curriculum. Most of the teachers with whom I work lament the lack of curriculum from the district - or even available to purchase. We often make our own materials and try to follow the continuum of skills as we go.
What's interesting, is that the CCSS specifically point out that even students in special ed need to acquire these skills, and be held accountable to the same standards.
Hooray! Maybe someone will create some curriculum for these kids.
The CCSS fit the IDEA need for all students to participate in testing and grade-level curriculum. The CCSS mandate applies to all students with disabilities; including those with specific learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, speech-language impairments/disorders, developmental cognitive disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, physical and sensory impairments, severe multiple impairments, other health impairments, and traumatic brain injury.
