Core words are those high frequency words we use the most. They make up about 80% of the words we use, and are most often verbs, pronouns, adjectives, prepositions, and other words that carry a lot of meaning.
People sometimes tell me they don't know what words to model or when, when they are teaching core words to AAC users. But core words are in everything we talk about and action and describing words are usually easy to figure out in any activity.

Have fun modeling core words with your AAC users. Remember, they need to see and hear language before they will use it.
